A foreign national who holds a Visitor Visa and wants to extend his/her stay in Canada as a visitor may apply for a Visitor Record. Unlike the Visitor Visa, a Visitor Record is not considered a visa but rather a status document. It bears the status of a visitor in Canada, showing a new expiry date, hence, allowing a visitor to stay longer in the country.
A visitor record is issued either by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or Canada Border Services Agency. This document is independent and must be applied for at least 30 days before the indicated expiry date of your stay in Canada.
