Appeal your Citizenship Refusal

Just like the Citizenship Application, an applicant who was refused of Canadian Citizenship must strictly observe certain criteria in order to be processed. These include:

  • One must be a permanent resident;
  • He/she must be a permanent resident;
  • Must have resided in Canada for a period of three (3) years out of the four (4) years immediately preceding the date of the application;
  • The applicant must be able to speak and write at least one (1) of the official language of Canada (english and french); and
  • The applicant must have an adequate knowledge of the responsibilities and rights that comes with the Canadian citizenship.

 

If the Canadian citizenship application is refused, the applicant has the option to appeal the rendered decision before the Federal Court of Canada. The applicant must file his/her Notice of Appeal to the Federal Court within 30 days from receipt of the said decision. Failure to observe the reglementary period of 30 days may result in an outright denial of the appeal.
